Episode Outlines
1. I WANT IT
IG is fast asleep in her cosy bed under her TRIPLE TOG duvet when a bright ray of sunshine streams in through the window onto her face, waking her up to a sunny, bright day. Enjoying the lovely warmth on her face, she points out the window at the sun. ‘I want it’, she says. TRIPLE TOG half-snores/half-growls and goes back to sleep.
Playing outside with DOGGY and MONKEY BOY, IG points again at the sun. ‘I want it’, she repeats. BIG DADDY explains that the sun is for everyone, not just IG, it provides light and warmth for everyone. ‘But I want it’, IG repeats again quietly.
As the sun is setting low over IG’S house, she pops up from behind the house. ‘I want it’, she repeats and hooks the string which pulls the sun up and down in the sky with a big stick; then she grabs the string and pulls the sun towards her. ‘Mine’, she declares triumphantly, ‘mine’. IG drags the sun by its string to a cave where she leaves it, deep inside, and pulls scrub across the entrance to hide it.
The next morning, IG is woken by a distressed BIRDIE flying into her bedroom. It’s late but it’s still cold and dark and BIRDIE’s afraid the sun has gone away and will never come back. IG jumps out of bed and runs to the front door where DOGGY and MONKEY BOY are huddled, shivering. It’s too cold and dark to go out, to play or to have any fun at all and, if the sun doesn’t come back, the banana tree will die and there’ll be no more bananas for MONKEY BOY.
BIG DADDY sees IG’s guilty face and asks her if she has something to tell him. She confesses all and she and BIG DADDY hurry to the cave and release the sun back into the sky. It’s warm and sunny again and everyone’s happy.
2. WHERE’S MY DOGGY?
IG and DOGGY are playing outside, running and jumping and rolling around together. DOGGY jumps up on IG and licks her face enthusiastically. Giggling with delight, IG hugs DOGGY. ‘I love you, Doggy’, she says.
IG and MONKEY BOY are painting on the wall of IG’s house. DOGGY tries to join in but he just succeeds in knocking over the paint and running around leaving paint prints on the floor. BIG DADDY tells IG to clear up the mess. DOGGY tries to help but just makes more of a mess and IG keeps pushing him away, eventually losing patience and snapping at him: ‘GO AWAY, DOGGY’.
DOGGY does go away, as far as the door, hoping IG will come and play with him but, after she’s cleaned up the mess, she starts painting again with MONKEY BOY and ignores him. A bored DOGGY spots a Jurassic dragonfly flitting through the air and sets off in hot pursuit.
After she and MONKEY BOY have finished painting, IG looks round for DOGGY. He’s nowhere to be seen. ‘Where’s my doggy?’ she asks. She runs outside to look for him but he doesn’t respond to her calls. ‘Where’s my doggy?’ she repeats, getting more and more upset.
BIG DADDY organises a search party. He and MONKEY BOY set off together while IG jumps onto BIRDIE’s back for an aerial search. Eventually, IG and BIRDIE spot DOGGY dangling from a branch over a ravine after his over-enthusiastic dragonfly hunt. ‘There’s my doggy’, exclaims IG as they swoop down to rescue him.
Safe back home, BIG DADDY lets DOGGY snuggle up in bed with IG that night as a special treat.
3. I’M NOT IG
IG’s bedroom is a mess, clothes, toys, crystals everywhere and BIG DADDY tells her to clean it up. ‘I can’t', she says, ‘I’m not Ig, I’m Triple Tog’ and she bounds off on all fours, growling like a tiger. BIG DADDY crossly gives TRIPLE TOG a shaking. ‘And you could do with a good airing too’, he tells him at which TRIPLE TOG roars with displeasure and bounds off after IG.
BIG DADDY shouts after IG: ‘Ig, come back here and tidy up this bedroom’. IG jumps around with DOGGY and shouts back: ‘I can’t. I’m not Ig, I’m Doggy’. ‘Ig!’ shouts BIG DADDY more crossly just as IG catches sight of BIRDIE swooping down out of the sky to greet her. ‘I’m not Ig,’ she cries back, ‘I’m Birdie’ and she clambers onto BIRDIE’s back and the pair of them fly out of sight.
IG and BIRDIE swoop down past MONKEY BOY’s tree where he’s dangling, about to tuck into a banana. IG snatches the banana out of his hand and laughs as she and BIRDIE land and she hops off BIRDIE’s back and shares the banana with her.
‘Naughty Ig,’ cries MONKEY BOY, ‘My banana!’ ‘I’m not Ig,’ IG cries back. ‘I’m MONKEY GIRL’ and she gambols around in a monkey impersonation which confuses the easily-confused MONKEY BOY.
It’s tea-time and IG makes her way back home. The most delicious smell of baking wafts towards her from her house where BIG DADDY is taking a big, fruit cake out of the lava oven. ‘Hello, Triple Tog’, says BIG DADDY when he sees her, ‘Have you seen Ig? I’ve made this cake for her, fruit cake’s her favourite.’ ‘I’m not Triple Tog ‘, replies IG, ‘I’m .. ‘ but before she can finish, BIG DADDY says: ‘No, of course not, how silly of me, you’re Doggy ‘. ‘No, I’m not’, IG tries to say, ‘I’m… ‘. ‘Yes, of course ‘ buts in BIG DADDY, ‘You’re Birdie. Have you seen Ig anywhere?’ ‘I’m not Birdie,’ IG manages to get out at last ‘I’m Ig! ‘ ‘Then as soon as you’ve tidied up your bedroom, Ig,’ retorts BIG DADDY, ‘you can have a big slice of this cake.’ And in no time at all, IG has tidied up her bedroom and is enjoying her second slice of cake.
4. MINE’S BETTER
BIG DADDY’s birthday’s coming up and IG and MONKEY BOY both want to make him a present. They decide to make him animal models out of mud, which they will bake in the sun and then paint.
They set to work with DOGGY acting as IG’s model, after she’s managed to get him to sit still by giving him a big bone to chew on, and BIRDIE as MONKEY BOY’s. MONKEY BOY keeps forgetting that BIRDIE’s his model and models a banana instead but they both manage to make half-decent models which they then stand back to admire. ‘Mine’s better’, says IG, ’so I get the paints first.’ ‘No, mine better,’ responds MONKEY BOY, ‘me get paints first ‘. The row escalates and before you know it, they are wrestling one another in attempt to get to the paints first while DOGGY tries to join in and BIRDIE tries to break the fight up. As IG and MONKEY BOY tumble over one another, first IG’s and then MONKEY BOY’s models get smashed.
Now what are they to do? There isn’t enough time for each of them to make another model from scratch so they decide to work together. They will make BIG DADDY a mud cup and saucer. IG models them and MONKEY BOY paints them.
BIG DADDY is delighted with his present and with IG and MONKEY BOY for working so well together.
